OffiSync vs GoDocSync

Thursday, September 9th, 2010

Both GoDocSync and OffiSync are the Microsoft Office add-in which is to integrate Google Docs with Microsoft Suite.

The major differences are:

  • GoDocSync offers Outlook add-in as well as the add-in for Word, Excel, and Power Point.  OffiSync doesn’t have the add-in for Outlook.
  • GoDocSync supports offline mode editing.  The user can work on document in offline mode than constantly connecting to Google Docs online to save the changes.  In OffiSync, it constantly connects to Google Docs during the editing to save the changes.  It could be inconvenient if the user works on a document for awhile.
  • GoDocSync supports all the file attributes editing, such as star, hidden etc right inside GoDocSync.  OffiSync doesn’t support this feature yet.
  • GoDocSync supports drag-and-drop between local PC and Google Docs online.  Offisync doesn’t support have this feature yet.
  • GoDocSync supports local file history.  OffiSync doesn’t have any local file history.
